Client Testimonials

We Love Hearing From You!

"The capacity to care is the thing which gives life its deepest meaning and significance" – Pablo Casals

In 2007, my grandmother in California needed full-time care. Living in Virginia, I was deeply concerned about finding a responsible, compassionate agency. A neighbor recommended Caring Heart, and I called right away. Nathan and his team met with me the next day and took charge immediately — even thinking of things I hadn't considered.

Their caregivers were attentive and professional, and I felt confident returning to Virginia. What surprised me most was that my grandmother, who was initially resistant to help, actually grew fond of her caregivers. I was kept informed at all times, and Nathan even showed up at the ER at 3:00 a.m. to make sure she was admitted properly or got home safely.

When she passed, they helped me with final arrangements and clearing out her home. I'm beyond grateful. Caring Heart showed real compassion, professionalism, and support every step of the way.

What is a Caregiver?

A caregiver or carer is a member of a person's social network who helps them with activities of daily living. Caregiving is most commonly used to address impairments related to old age, disability, a disease, or a mental disorder.

Caregiving involves establishing effective emotional boundaries, setting reasonable limits on your work, and developing a certain amount of loving detachment from your family member's ongoing health condition.

Typical duties of a caregiver might include taking care of someone who has a chronic illness or disease; managing medications or talking to doctors and nurses on someone's behalf; helping to bathe or dress someone who is frail or disabled; or taking care of household chores, meals, or bills.

Caregiving Tips

How to Avoid Caregiver Burnout

Self-care journaling

Keep a Daily Journal

Writing down how you're feeling and what's happening in your life helps with your emotional stress.

Reach Out to Others

Talking to someone helps clear up wavering emotions. Don't forget about the people who are there for you.

Ask for Help

Sometimes, caregivers take on more than they can handle. Reach out for help when you feel that the task is too much.

Take a Break

Don't disregard your emotional and physical health. Be sure that you are able to help yourself before you can help others.

Meditate

Take a deep breath and a step back. Clear your mind, meditate, then figure out what you need to do.

Know Your Limits

Understand what your caregiver duties are. Learn about your loved one's condition. Set reasonable goals.
